Seen any original sci-fi films at the cinema this year?

one based on a 1966 tv show.
one based on a 1984 film.
one based on a 1984 toy.

I cant say that i have seen any of them and if i`m honest the only appealing thing about any of them is the cg/concept/art department eye candy and the usual tech-fetish stuff.

i just think it is ironic that sci fi stuff is so retro.

same old ideas just with even better effects.

doubly ironic is that what is happening in the real world of science is more mindblowing than the this years sci-fi blockbusters.

take a copy of `new scientist` with you if your off to the cinema this weekend
